In what is being called a Christmas gift, shelling of this years crop of Valencia peanuts can begin tomorrow in Portales, NM.
Sunland Inc., the nations largest processor of organic peanuts, won permission to resume its shelling operations in a Dec. 22 agreement with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). With assistance from a Washington D.C.-based food safety consultant, Sunland might be able to resume all operations shortly.
FDA suspended Sunlands registration for food manufacturing on
