Animal disease research gains £38m boost

The Institute for Animal Health (IAH) was awarded the cash from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), and comes in addition to early grants of more than 250m from the same group and the UK Department of Business Innovation and Skills (BIS).

As well as investing into research into livestock diseases such as foot-and-mouth, bluetongue and Mareks disease, the cash will be used to redevelop the institutes facilities in Pirbright, Surrey.
