Soaring UK livestock prices hit Vion’s profits

In the UK, where Vion is the largest fresh meat processor, the high cost of pigs, cattle, lamb and chickenplaced great pressure on business activities. Chicken sales performed particularly badly and are likely to be hit further by the loss of Vions Sainsbury contract next spring.

The results highlighted systemic problems across the UK meat industry, Tillmann added.
