The plant, which also features a research and development (R&D) center, has the capability to produce triple-layered bars.
The factory has two production lines and will produce a range of specially commissioned and private label food bars. It has the capability to produce meal replacement bars, sports and energy bars, functional bars and healthy snack bars.
The new plant will increase the company's capacity from 150 million bars to 250 million bars annually, and has created 40 new jobs, reported Foodnavigator.com
It also features machines that can handle drizzled coatings. Currently, the plant is 50% operational and is slated to become fully operational within two weeks.
The dedicated R&D center will enable the company to accelerate the product development. It will allow customers to evaluate their own recipes in the development kitchen.
VSI chief executive Gerard Janssens said the new plant allows for even more efficient bar production.
"By being able to offer higher quantities we also hope to grow in other markets outside of Europe and expect to further strengthen our position worldwide," Janssens added.
