FSA appoints chief executive

The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has appointed Catherine Brown as its new chief executive.
Brown will take up the role in October and replaces Tim Smith who has held the position since March 2008.

Brown is currently chief executive of the Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency (AHVLA) and has worked as a managing director at BUPA and for the NHS and Unilever.
