Increasing market share for brown and organic champignons in German trade

In 2018, 79,150 tons of edible mushrooms were cultivated in Germany. Of this, 76,000 tonnes were mushrooms, 69,000 tonnes for the fresh market - a new record. 3,150 t accounted for the other types, the so-called noble mushrooms. Over 95 percent of the domestically produced mushrooms are button mushrooms. Brown mushrooms are becoming increasingly popular. They are gaining an additional market share.
